"Summer Updates On The Farm"
Summer has seemingly come and gone here at Midwest Fainters! We have been swamped with the AirBnb here on the property, having renters in and out every week!
At the end of Spring, Milky Way, Joey, Arrow, and Fancy found their forever home, with another heard of fainting goats not too far from us! In all efforts of managing a smaller heard, it was a sad day saying goodbye to four of our beloved babies that we've raised since they could come home, but we are so glad they went to someone who had experience and more time than we do to continue adding to their herd.
Last month, (August) the vet came out to the farm and confirmed that Shine is in fact having twins! To say my kids are excited, is an understatement! We also have the other 3 girls open with Ralph and Bo, in hopes for a few more kids in the late winter months.
We are starting to gear up for winter around the farm, winterizing all those nooks and crannies and getting stalls set up for potential momma's and babes!
Angus, our black angus calf that came to us in March of this year is growing like a weed! He's pushing 350-400 pounds at least, and is the biggest baby on the farm! He loves taking evening strolls with me around the pasture, eating ALL the goats feed, and taking in all the hugs the kids give. Who knew, a cow could be your best friend?!
We will be updating as time gets closer for kids to be born, as I'm sure snow will be on the ground by then!
Stay safe farm friends, until next time!
